Gwynncore A relaxing, but also somewhat ominous phenomenally crafted and produced Electroacoustic composition that features some great guitar work. Ritorno a Elea also comes with very strong and worthwhile message as well.

about

The city of Elea was founded near the Cilento coast in the second half of the 6th century BC by Greek exiles from Phocaea fleeing Ionia, the current western coast of Turkey, following the destruction of their city by the Persian army. The Phocaeans bought the land from the local inhabitants and transformed the new colony into a flourishing center that at the time also took on great importance for a famous medical school and for the birth of one of the main pre-Socratic philosophical schools: the so-called Eleatic school.
Ritorno a Elea is a piece of music inspired by an imaginary journey into the past between the different shores of the Mediterranean sea in search of that spirit that puts at the center of the vision of the world the profound meaning of Humanity and the Whole, for the first time prefigured by Parmenides and by his followers, so often lost today. The history of Elea, in fact, was not an isolated case and in the following two thousand and five hundred years similar events were repeated often leaving evident signs on the Italian territory. Thus, for example, the Albanians settled in the Calabrian and Lucanian territory to escape the advance of the Ottoman Empire and, still in Calabria, Occitan communities, of Protestant and Waldensian religion, settled on the Tyrrhenian coast of Cosenza to try to escape, unfortunately in vain, to religious persecution. Later, our lands were also victims of abandonment and depopulation in historical periods not far away where the emigrants were precisely the Italians who tried to escape hunger and poverty. Thus emigration, immigration, hospitality and integration are nothing new, but something ancient and consolidated in our culture.
Ritorno a Elea has also this meaning: the return to the places of abandonment and depopulation to remember what we have been and to understand the urgency to strongly refuse the current political actions implemented by the states to counteract illegal immigration through the construction of walls and iron curtains, the establishment of naval blocks, the closure of ports and the implementation of restrictive and punitive measures. The Italian history teaches that the Mediterranean sea has always been the vehicle of clashes and encounters between populations and cultures, a means of escape and salvation for human being in the legitimate search for peace and serenity for themselves and their descendants. It will certainly not be the violence and the cynical brutality of the richest states to arrest an ever-existent phenomena that can find solutions only in a different way: nothing but through international cooperation, the cessation of conflicts scattered on Earth and the equitable redistribution of the assets of the Planet.
